Dharma Dreams Vocational Center is an adult special needs program (age 18-26) designed to teach more traditional vocational courses in a a setting suitable for those with special needs, including a pace that is more reasonable than traditional programs. With plans to expand to many different vocations, we are launching this program with landscaping and a painting/plastering/handywork program. Each program is expected to be two years long and designed to teach many skills within it. As a result, students will earn certificates of proficiency as they go and will have maximum marketable skills after two years. In addition to the specific vocational skills, we intend to teach entrepreneurial skills, which includes communication, business ideas and plans, discrimination and more. We will teach life skills which include money management/budgets, hygiene, transportation, and more. Meditation and grounding techniques are also a component of the program for both students and teachers so the everyone is operating at their best and managing any stress that may arise. There is so much good associated with this program to help an under-served population learn the skills they want and also to benefit the trades which are currently lacking in skilled laborers. Future programs may include construction, culinary arts, nail technician and more.
